Watch: Smith paddle-sweeps beach ball to boundary line
Though the gentleman’s game has witnessed many great moments which qualifies in the spirit of cricket, it has had some strange and hilarious moments too.
One such unexpected incident was caught live during the 4th Ashes Test match between England and Australia where Australia’s best batsman Steve Smith played a huge role in that interesting scene.
Smith who loves to entertain the crowd with the bat took his entertainment to a whole new level as he smacked the beach ball to the boundary line and the fans who witnessed it at the best scene went absolutely ballistic.
When England’s Stuart Broad sent Australia’s Marcus Harris back to the dressing room in the seventh over today, the fans were eagerly waiting for an intriguing contest between Steve Smith and Jofra Archer.
Archer who was bowling around the 80mph mark from the word go, amplified his pace up to 87mph in his very first ball when he bowled to Smith.
It was on the fourth ball of the 29th over, when Jofra Archer was about to unleash the ball at full speed, then strong winds started blowing in the ground, which saw a beach ball somehow finding a way in the ground and it happened to come near Steve Smith as the winds took the beach ball to the pitch.
Seeing this, Smith decided to have some fun and as the ball approached him, he went for a paddle-swept it towards the mid-wicket boundary, making the fans go crazy in the process.
