Watch: Solanki hits 6 4 6 to take Baroda into the semis of SMAT 2021
Baroda’s right-handed batsman Vishnu Solanki played an excellent finish to take Baroda into the semifinals of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
The knockouts of India’s well-known domestic T20 tournament, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy is currently being played Ahemadabad. All the knockout matches including the final, are being played at the newly built Motera Stadium.
The tournament plays a major role in the talent hunt for the IPL auctions in recent years. This year too, the tournament is scheduled right before the auction process for IPL 2021. Now the tournament has entered into the semifinals. In a quarter-final game Baroda took on Haryana.
Haryana batted first and scored 148 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Baroda were asked to chase 149 and the top order batsman laid a strong foundation to win the game, though it went till the last ball. Haryana bowlers sneaked back into the game and Baroda were needing 15 runs off the last three balls.
It was their right-handed batsman Vishnu Solanki took Baroda home with an outstanding finish. Solanki hit a six in the 4th ball of the last over and a four in the very next ball. Baroda were needing 5 runs off last ball and the right-handed batsman finished it off with a helicopter shot. Vishnu Solanki remained not out on 71 runs.
