Watch: Suresh Raina hilariously welcomes Uthappa to CSK
Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina backed out of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League due to personal reasons. There were reports that CSK moved on from Raina. However, a senior CSK official confirmed that Raina will be playing the next edition of the IPL.
In good news for CSK fans, the yellow army retained Raina ahead of the IPL auction 2021. Raina, who is the leading run-scorer for CSK scored 5368 runs so far. The southpaw slammed 38 fifties and a century to his name.
Raina knows how CSK badly missed his services last season. MS Dhoni-led team lost 8 games in the season where they managed to win just 6 games. They finished at 7th place in the group stage points table. However, they will be looking forward to performing well in the IPL 2021.
Raina welcomes Uthappa
Ahead of the auction, the Super Kings were quite busy in the cleaning process where they released as many as 6 players in the squad. In the latest development, the three-time IPL champions traded Robin Uthappa from Rajasthan Royals.
The explosive batsman will reunite with Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni after a long time. The last time when these three players were together was during the ICC T20 World Cup 2007. Now, he will be spending time with these two players in the next season.
Meanwhile, Raina welcomed him to the yellow brigade in a hilarious fashion. The cricketer shared a video from the old IPL game to welcome Uthappa to Chennai Super Kings.
Recently, one of the fans uploaded a clip from the reverse fixture between CSK and Pune Warriors India in IPL 2013. During that match, Raina put in a full dive only to affect a marvellous run out to dismiss Robin Uthappa. After seeing this clip on Instagram, the southpaw decided to share it on his Instagram story.
