Watch: Tamim’s 73 runs against Khulna Titans


Despite posting a huge target, Khulna Titans taste yet another bitter defeat as Comilla Victorians chase down successfully after a brilliant show from the openers.


Khulna came into the match after breaking their losing streak and they were put into bat first. After the early dismissal of Jahurul Islam, the local duo Junaid Siddique and Al-Amin gave Khulna a flying start.

Al-Amin played a brilliant cameo of 32 off just 19 balls, but Junaid took away the spotlight with even a bigger knock. With 4 fours and 4 sixes, Junaid blasted 70 off just 41 balls.

When Khulna were on they were to post a target more than 200, Shahid Afridi came down as a hurdle and picked up three vital wickets. Junaid departed after an unlucky run-out and after his departure, the run-rate climbed down and Khulna managed to score 181 runs in the end.

In reply, Comilla were off to even a better start courtesy of Tamim Iqbal and Anamul Haque’s brilliant batting. Tamim, who was finding it hard to find form was finally able to break the barrier and score runs. With 12 fours and 1 six, an unstoppable Tamim scored 73 off 42 while Anamul at the other end scored 40 off 37.

Khulna’s Junaid Khan, who picked up four wickets was the pick of the bowler and kept Khulna well alive in the game till the end. But the man in form Thisara Perera, keeping his calm and composure took Comilla over the line with a four and a six in the last over.
