Taylor’s unbeaten 181 leads New Zealand to victory

England top-order batsmen Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root’s century against New Zealand in the fourth match of the ongoing tri-nation series go into vain as their side lost the match despite scoring a mountain total of 335 in 50 overs. Having asked to bat first at University Oval in Dunedin, England had a brilliant start with their Jonny Bairstow and one-down batsman Joe Root scoring centuries. Although they lost their another opener Jason Roy in the 11th over of the innings, Root and Bairstow added 190 in next 27 overs.

However, after this duos departure the next batsmen to reach double figures was Adil Rashid and Tom Curran at number 9 and 10 respectively. England after playing 50 overs posted 335 in the scoreboard.

In reply, an heroic innings from Blackcaps middle-order batsman Ross Taylor has led them to the victory convincingly as he struck an unbeaten 181 off just 147 balls. Tom Latham chipped in with 71 runs in a share of a 187 fourth-wicket partnership with Taylor.

The hosts side chased down England’s first innings total of 335 with three balls to spare, leveling the five-game series at two apiece.
