Watch: Umpire lauds Rahul’s fair play in the field

Indian opening batsman KL Rahul got an immediate appreciation from the on-field umpire Ian Gould for his fair play in the field.

India seems to be nearing to historic Test series win in Australian soil according to the current status of the ongoing Test in  Sydney Cricket Ground. India are clearly dominating the hosts on day 3 too.

During the play on day 3, Indian player KL Rahul got a great appreciation from the on-field umpire Ian Gould for his fair play. The incident happened soon after the commencement of play on day 3.

Jadeja forced Marcus Harris to take him on off the very first ball and the southpaw danced down the track and hit the ball in the air towards mid-on. But the Aussie opener didn’t connect it well and created a chance for KL Rahul who was in mid-on.

Rahul made a dive to his right side but failed to grab the ball before landing on the ground. All the Indian players shouted in excitement but the Indian opener immediately said no and confirmed that ball landed in ground before he grabbing.

The on-field umpire Ian Gould was impressed with Rahul’s gestures. Gould first showed Rahul a thumbs up when the bowler was going back to his mark and then, during the change over in-between the overs, he said, “KL Rahul, outstanding mate. Well done.”
