The ongoing 10th edition of the Big Bash League has witnessed so many moments on the field. Initially, the on-field umpires came under fire for their inability to give accurate decisions on the field. Cricket Australia didn’t add Decision Review System in the franchise cricket.

Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, former wicket-keeper batsman Adam Gilchrist questioned the standards of umpiring. Even former spinner Shane Warne urged the Australian board to bring DRS in order to minimise umpiring blunders.

Besides that, the game witnessed unluckiest dismissals involving Melbourne Renegades captain Aaron Finch. The right-handed batsman was quite unlucky as he found new ways of getting dismissed twice.

Umpire Shawn Craig timely escapes injury:

During the 45th BBL match between Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades, umpire Shawn Craig showed incredible reflexes when Mackenzie Harvey hit a powerful shot straight down the ground. The ball was hit with brutal force by left-handed batsman Harvey and luckily, the on-field umpire showed incredible presence of mind as he timely escaped from a serious injury.

The video of the same is doing the rounds on all social media platforms. However, umpiring is quite a task during the game. He has to concentrate from ball one till the end of the match. It is not that easy to officiate a match but high-level umpires are making the job look so easy.

Talking about the game, Melbourne Stars posted 158/6 in their quota of 20 overs. Nick Larkin top-scored with 61 off just 27 balls including 8 fours and a six. In reply, Renegades chased down the target with 2 balls to spare. Mackenzie Harvey top-scored for Renegades with 47 off just 21 with the help of 6 fours and 2 sixes.

Harvey was named the man of the match for his quickfire knock that helped Renegades chase down the target. “Can’t put it into words, playing a derby at home. It was a good effort from the bowlers, it came off well today. A complete team performance. Like I said before, it’s absolutely outstanding playing at home and winning,” Harvey said at the post-match presentation.
