Watch: When Pollard hits first ball of his T20 career with a superb six
The big lad Kieron Pollard is regarded as one of the dangerous players in the shorter format of the game. He is a nightmare for the opposition batsman as he has the ability to clear the fence either with his soft hands or using his strength.
Pollard has done well in the T20 format for West Indies. In the Indian Premier League, Pollard represents the five-time champions Mumbai Indians and been the regular performer for the franchise for more than a decade.
Before the IPL, the West Indies limited-overs skipper grabbed the headlines when he smashed 6 sixes off Akila Dhananjaya’s spell against Sri Lanka. In the recently concluded IPL, the big lad has once again led his side against their biggest arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings where is scored a blistering knock of 87 from just 34 balls including 6 fours and 8 maximums to his name.
In addition to that, he is one of the few batsmen to amass more than 10,000 runs in the T20 format. Moreover, he has scored 53 fifties and a hundred in this format and grabbed more than 300 catches. He has also done the damage with the ball as well and scalped 296 wickets to his bag.
Pollard smashed a six off the first ball he faced in his T20 career:
Kieron Pollard’s T20 debut came against the mighty Australian side where he didn’t get a single ball to show his skills. But the scenario was different in the next match that came against New Zealand and amazed everyone when he faced the first ball of his T20 career.
Jeetan Patel was the bowler when Pollard came to crease. The bowler would not have enough idea about the big man’s power till he witnessed the six of the first ball he faced as he just flicked the ball which landed over the boundary ropes.
Jeetan Patel had no idea after seeing the mighty power of Kieron Pollard. Since then, he has smashed 726 sixes, and can expect more from him in the upcoming years.
