Watto special outclasses Hyderabad
A Shane Watson special helped Chennai Supers Kings to seal a comfortable win against Sunrisers Hyderabad and with that they qualify for the playoffs in this season’s Indian Premier League.
Shakib Al Hasan finally made a comeback into the side as he was replaced by Kane Williamson, who missed out due to personal reasons. However, the comeback wasn’t a happy one for the all-rounder as Hyderabad suffered defeat against the men in yellow.
After winning the toss, MS Dhoni put Hyderabad to bat first. The firing duo didn’t click this time as Jonny Bairstow departed for a duck, courtesy of a good delivery from Harbhajan Singh.
But man in form David Warner was at his very best once again and scored a useful 57 from 45 balls. However, it was Manish Pandey, who stole the limelight after scoring a mammoth 83* off just 49 balls. With 7 fours and 3 sixes, he guided Hyderabad to a big total of 175 runs in their 20 overs. Shakib didn’t get any opportunity to bat.
In reply, Chennai also lost Faf du Plessis early for 1. But it was Watson’s day and he made it quite obvious with a tremendous knock. The dynamic opener missed his well-deserved century for only 4 runs, but his 96 off just 53 balls was enough to chase down the total of 176 easily with six wickets in hand.
Shakib was economical but failed to pick up any wicket. He finished with match figures of 0/27 in 4 overs.
