We have thrashed India a lot: Shahid Afridi
Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi came into the headlines once again after his bold statement regarding the India-Pakistan rivalry.
Shahid Afridi, who recovered from the coronavirus and tested positive few days ago talk about the rivalry between India and Pakistan during his playing career in an interview.
India has always been a hunting ground for Afridi, at least the statistics say so. He has scored 524 runs in 67 ODIs and 709 runs from eights Tests against India.
When asked who is his favourite opponent, Afridi picked India and Australia with a bit of digging at India, saying Pakistan has thrashed them so much that they would ask for forgiveness after the match.
“I have always enjoyed India. Unhe to theek-thaak mara hai humne. Itna mara hai unhe ki match ke baad maafiyan mangi hai unhone. (We’ve thrashed them a lot. I believe we’ve beaten them so much that they used to ask us for forgiveness after the match). ”
“I have enjoyed a lot playing against India and Australia, you have more pressure. They are good teams, big teams. Going and performing in their conditions is the big thing,” Afridi said on a show.
Afridi also picked his knock of 141 runs against India as the most memorable knock, considering the fact that he was almost out of the team due to his poor form.
“My most memorable inning was the 141 against India, that too in India. I was not going on that trip; they were not taking me. Wasim bhai and the chief selector that time supported me a lot. It was a very difficult tour and that inning was very important,” he added.
Pakistan lead India 73-55 in ODIs, but it has been a completely opposite story in the World Cup as they are yet to beat them in the major tournament.
