We have to be at our best to beat Bangladesh: Karunaratne
Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne admitted there’s no chance to take Bangladesh lightly and warns the team ahead of the start of the ODI series.
Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are set to lock horns in the three-match ODI series, starting from Friday. Both the teams couldn’t live up to the expectations in the World Cup, but the hosts want to win the first ODI and give Lasith Malinga a farewell gift.
As far as Bangladesh is concerned, they will be playing under the leadership of Tamim Iqbal for the first time in the absence of Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, who is injured. Bangladesh will also be without their main man Shakib Al Hasan and Liton Das.
However, Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunanratne believes the absence of the duo won’t effect the visitors.
“Bangladesh has really played good cricket in the last few years. Shakib and Mashrafe have really done well in the World Cup. But I think the players who have replaced them, have got the talent as well, they have done really well for the Bangladesh team.”
“They [Bangladesh] are a very good team. Against them, we have to play at our best and there is no chance to take them lightly. We have to play at our capacity and I hope it will be a good match tomorrow,” he added.
All the three ODIs will take place at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
