We need to make more centuries against Bangladesh, says Williams

Zimbabwe is the favorite opponent of Bangladeshi top order batsmen. Imrul Kayes scored a century in the first match of the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe in 2018. Liton Das and Imrul both made big fifties in the next match.

Williams expects more centuries against Bangladesh

Soumya Sarkar and Imrul Kayes both scored centuries in the last match of that series. Bangladesh won the series with the help of top order batsmen in all three matches.

Bangladesh has maintained the same trend in the ongoing ODI series. Liton scored a century in the first match. Zimbabwean veteran cricketer Sean Williams wants to make a century like Bangladesh to counter Bangladesh.

“We have to get runs,” Williams said at the Zimbabwe team’s optional practice at Sylhet International Stadium today.

“We are passing time in the wicket but lost wickets at the same time. Many of us are doing 50-60, then getting out. We need to make a century. Bangladeshi batsmen are getting centuries against us. Making a century means nailing the match. That’s all we have to do, make more centuries. And that is what senior cricketers have to do.”

Zimbabwean batsmen could not stand in front of Bangladesh bowling in the first match of the series. Still, Williams is expected to play big innings in the second match against Bangladeshi bowling,

Bangladeshi bowling is very strong. But we haven’t played against them before, not like that. They are world class bowlers. If we sort out small things properly, we will do well.”
