We will see Razzak in nets, then we will decide: Nannu
As like everyone, 35-year old Abdur Razzak himself was surprised too after being included in the squad for the Chittagong Test against Sri Lanka. Mainly, he has been taken as a backup option for injured Shakib Al Hasan.
But that doesn’t mean, Razzak will be an auto choice in the starting XI. He has to perform well with the ball in the nets, informed by the chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu.
In a press conference on Monday, Nannu said: “As Shakib is injured, we need a spinner in the squad. We called him (Razzak) because he is senior player. Though we also called Sunjamul. Its not a matter. We will see him in the nets and then we will decide.”
Nannu added: “As we are playing at home, we have the opportunity to call any player in any time.”
On 17th January, Razzak became the first Bangladesh to take 500 first class wickets. The 35-year old spinner achieved this milestone in his 113th first class match. Razzak has been out of the national team since 2014.
The veteran spinner has played 153 ODIs and took 207 wickets and in the longer format of the game, he played 12 Tests and took 23 wickets. On the other hand, he has played 34 T20Is and took 34 wickets.
