West Indies announce squad for New Zealand tour

West Indies will play three T20Is and two Tests against the hosts New Zealand. Cricket West Indies have agreed to go for the tour and the series will begin on November 27.

Cricket West Indies (CWI) are all set to play their second series during the pandemic. Their next assignment will be against New Zealand where they will play three T20Is and two Tests.

The board announced the squad for both the formats on Friday.  Darren Bravo, Shimron Hetmyer and Keemo Paul all are back in the Test side after they pulled out from the tour of England.

The most notable omission is Shai Hope, who has been an integral part of West Indies’ Test squad for the last few years. He has been dropped after a poor show with the bat in England tour. He only managed to score 105 runs in six innings.

All-rounder Kyle Mayers have been rewarded a post in the T20I side for his tremendous performance in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). He scored 222 runs in 9 matches with Barbados Tridents. On the other hand, Andre Russell,  Lendl Simmons and Evin Lewis have opted out of the tour due to personal reasons.
