‘Whatever we say or not, Bangladesh needs more time in Test cricket’, says Hathurusingha
Defending his team from bizarre defeat against Sri Lanka in the first Test of the two match Test series, head coach Chandika Hathurusingha guarded the team’s inexperience as the cause of losing badly in the fifth day under favorable batting condition at Galle.

Hathurusingha said, “It is true that we expected a lot from a team who is still searching for grounds in Test cricket. Our bowling line up is too inexperienced. We have to find out the way of taking all 20 wickets in a Test match. Look at them, if Shakib is excluded from the lineup, the match experience of rest of the bowlers aggregate just 15. We are playing outside the country. Shakib himself is quite lamenting this time. Taking Test wickets needs much skill, it needs time whatever we say or not.”
About the out of Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim, Hathurusingha said, “Nobody gift a wicket; in that case, Shakib and Mushfiqur both were trying to understand the nature of spin. And of that bowler, Sandakan, he has lot variation in his bowling; he delivered ‘china man’ and ‘wrong – un’ deliveries.”
On pointing out the strategies of the team, Hathurusingha further said, “The main thing is to take proper decision. A batsman has to decide whether he play a delivery or let it go and to do that, one has to understand the strategy of opponent team and be conscious. Someone cannot go there attacking and say ‘it’s just like me. I play like that.”
