Why hosts are wearing armbands in 3rd ODI?

So far so good for the Indian cricket team during their tour of West Indies. First, they notched up 3-0 whitewash to beat the reigning World T20I champions and now they have already taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.

Why hosts are wearing armbands in 3rd ODI?
Chris Gayle played his last international match

The first match was washed out due to torrential downpour while the second one was a rain-curtailed one though India managing to get on top with DLS method as they won by 59 runs.

Currently, both the teams are playing the third and final ODI series in Trinidad at Queen’s Park Oval. The hosts guessed the right side of the coin and opted to slice the blade first on a pitch which looked too good for batting.

As Windies desperately needed a redemption to stay alive in the series, they made two main changes to their team including Keemo Paul and Fabian Allen in place of Sheldon Cottrell and Oshane Thomas. Meanwhile, India benched Kuldeep Yadav to go with Yuzvendra Chahal.

Just as when the game started, cricket fans were left totally confused to see the Caribbean openers Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis walk out with a black armband on their hand.

Before the match, Evin Lewis’ grandmother drew her last breath and the Windies team decided to pay a rich tribute to her.

Lewis was strong enough to not miss the decider though as he walked out on the park with his partner Chris Gayle.

The very same reason was confirmed by the cricket commentator on air and the former West Indies cricketer Ian Bishop during the very 1st over of the innings.
