Windies-Bangladesh ODIs in stats

With the three-match ODI series set to kick off between Windies and Bangladesh in Guyana on Sunday, let us have a look at some of the statistics in which the two teams played over the years.

Head-to-head: Bangladesh have faced Windies 28 times since their first meeting in 1999. Windies won 19 of them while Bangladesh tasted victory seven times. The Tigers won 3-0 away in 2009 and 3-2 at home in 2012. Being a growing ODI powerhouse from 2015, Bangladesh are yet to face Windies in this format.

Highest totals: Windies 338/7 powered by the then skipper Dinesh Ramdin’s 169 in St Kitts is the highest score in ODIs between these two teams. Bangladesh are yet to score a 300 against them. In 2012, Bangladesh posted 292/6 in Khulna which is their highest total against the Windies.

Lowest totals: Bangladesh were knocked for 58 runs by Windies in Dhaka in 2011 World Cup, still Bangladesh’s joint-lowest ODI total. In the same year, Bangladesh took their revenge by bowling out Windies for 61 runs in Chittagong.

Most run-scorers: Marlon Samuels, who is not a part of current squad, has most runs in Bangladesh vs Windies ODIs. He scored 533 runs in 13 matches. Chris Gayle also favours Bangladesh with 519 runs in 18 matches. Next comes Mushfiqur Rahim, who has 505 runs in 16 matches against Windies. Shivanarine Chanderpaul and Darren Bravo are fourth and fifth-most run-getters with 378 and 375 runs respectively.

Most hundreds: Anamul Haque has the most number of tons, two. No other Bangladeshi has one. Eight West Indians including Brian Lara, Gayle, Samuels and Darren Bravo have hundreds against Bangladesh. Of them, Ramdin’s 169 is the highest.

Most wickets: Kemar Roach has the highest number of wickets, 28 in 13 matches. Abdur Razzak took 19 wickets in 15 matches. Mahmudullah Riyad surprisingly has most (14) wickets among the players who are in the squad of both teams. Mashrafe Bin Mortaza has 11 wickets.

Most dismissals: Ridley Jacobs has the most wicket-keeping dismissals with 20 of them (15 catches and 5 stumpings) in 10 matches. Mushfiqur has 17 in 16 ODIs.
