World Cup hero Jason Roy set to make Test debut


England opener Jason Roy is set to make debut in the longer format of the game against Ireland after an amazing display of batting in the World Cup.

After a successful World Cup campaign for the hosts England, the concentration now shifts to the Ashes and they are set to take on Ireland on a one-off Test as a preparation for the ultimate battle.

The England Cricket Board (ECB) announced 13-man squad for the one-off Test where opener Jason Roy is set to make his debut. They were also set to include the uncapped Jofra Archer, but he has been rested for the Test due to a side strain. He will travel to Barbados for a short before coming back for the Ashes preparation.

The World Cup hero Ben Stokes has also been given rest after a hectic tournament and he will back for Ashes preparation after the one-off Test against Ireland.

Meanwhile, fast bowlers Stuart Broad and Sam Curran are up and running. They will play in the one-off Test which starts at Lords next week.
