Yasir Shah learned googly from Likhon!
Yasir Shah is unarguably one of the best bowlers in the world today. Just a few weeks ago, he rewrote a 120-year old record by picking up 90 wickets in just 19 Tests. He also rode in the apex of ICC Rankings for Test Bowlers for some time. So some may be astonished at Bangladesh young leg spinner Jubair Hossain Likhon’s latest claim — the Pakistani was taught googly by him! (নিউজটি বাংলায় পড়ূন)
According to Likhon, the Pakistani star player came to Likhon last year during Pakistan’s tour of Bangladesh and wanted to learn googly from him. “He came to me and said he would like to learn googly from me. I also discussed some prospects of bowling with him. He asked me, ‘How old are you?’ I said, ’21’ and then he again claimed, ‘Do you know how old I am?’ I said, ‘How?’ and he replied, ’34’ (actually 30). He also added, ‘You are still young, so don’t panic, just keep trying to bowl at right places.'”
Likhon said that apart from Yasir, he also consider India’s Amit Mishra as an inspiration, “I feel good to see almost every team nowadays has a leg spinner. There is Mishra in the India team, and Yasir also did extremely well in the first match (against England at Lord’s). I take it as a inspiration that most teams are now fielding at least one leg spinner, and those bowlers are doing good as well.”
