‘You almost ended my son’s career’, Chris Broad to Yuvraj after six sixes
It was the story of the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup. Angered by the sledging of English all-rounder Andrew Flintoff, Yuvraj Singh slapped Stuart Broad brutally in batting. He made history by hitting 6 sixes in one over.
The day after the match, Broad’s father ICC Emirates Elite Panel Match Referee Chris Broad told the former Indian all-rounder, “You almost ended my son’s career.”
Yuvraj had an argument with Andrew Flintoff during the match against England. After that the explosion happened. He hit six sixes in one over by Stuart Broad. Regarding that match, Yuvraj said, “I had a fight with Freddie (Flintoff). After that I hit 6 sixes. I looked at Freddie as soon as I hit the sixth six. I had a lot of fun hitting six sixes against England.”
Yuvraj hit five sixes to Dimitri Mascarenhas just days before the India-England match in the World Cup. Yuvraj said, “I first looked at Freddie after hitting six sixes in Broad’s over. Then I looked at Mascarenhas. Mascarenhas looked at me and smiled.”
Chris Broad spoke with Yuvraj the day after the match. He told Yuvraj, “You almost ended my son’s career. You have to give me an autograph in this jersey. I (Yuvraj) write about the future of England cricket, all the best.” However, those six sixes did not end Broad’s career. He is still playing in his glory and dominating in red-ball cricket.
