Young Tigers face India in tri-series opener tomorrow

The Under-19 teams of Bangladesh, Afghanistan and the hosts India are set to feature in a tri-series, starting at the Jadavpur University Saltlake campus ground on Friday. The series is being considered as a platform for preparations for all the three sides as the U-19 World Cup 2016 is just a couple of months away.

The ICC U-19 World Cup is slated to be hosted by Bangladesh from January 22 to February 14 and this series prior to the grand even will surely provide all three sides a good opportunity to test weaknesses and strengths of their respective team.

The Young Tigers and the hosts India will clash in the tournament-opener on Friday. It is to be noted that the series will be held in a double round-robin format. All the matches will be held at the Jadavpur University second campus ground in Saltlake, Kolkata.

Promising players in Bangladesh U-19 team include captain-cum-allrounder Mehedi Hasan Miraj, mainly a batsman who can also bowl off-spin, opener Syed Hasan, and top-order batsman Nazmul Hasan. They have also won series against the current world champions South Africa at both home and away, which will give them ample confidence.

November 20: India U-19 vs Bangladesh U-19

November 21: India U-19 vs Afghanistan U-19

November 22: Bangladesh U-19 vs Afghanistan U-19

November 24: India U-19 v Bangladesh U-19

November 25: Bangladesh U-19 vs Afghanistan U-19

November 27: India U-19 vs Afghanistan U-19;

November 29: Final (Team 1 vs Team 2).
