Zimbabwe’s tour of India doubtful due to IPL 2019
Zimbabwe’s tour of India is in doubt because of the advanced fixtures of Indian Premier League 2019.
India are currently on their long tour to Australia in the Australian summer and they have finished two series so far in a successful way. The next and last series of their tour will be the three-match ODI series which will kickstart on January 12th in Sydney.
Following the ODI series against Australia, India will wrap up their Australian tour and straight away India will fly to New Zealand for a short limited-overs tour. Thereafter India will have a home fixture against Australia that too only limited overs format.
Thereafter India are expected to play Indian Premier League 2019 which is proposed to start on March 23, slightly advanced because of the Parliamentary election in India as well as the mega event ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 to be played in England.
Zimbabwe are scheduled to tour India during March this year, still, the fixtures are not confirmed. But now the tour is in doubt because of the advancement of Indian Premier League 2019.
India were set to host Zimbabwe for one Test and three ODIs. The tight schedule of the Indian team has raised questions over the probability of this series. Zimbabwe Cricket’s managing director Givemore Makoni will meet BCCI officials to discuss the various options including the omission of the one-off Test for T20Is and ODIs.
