Afghanistan name strong Asia Cup squad
Three uncapped players have been named in 17-man Afghanistan squad for Asia Cup 2018. The squad has enough strength with the likes of Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Mohammad Nabi.
Sayed Sherzad, Munir Ahmad Kakar and Wafadar are the uncapped players in the squad. Wafadar was Afghanistan’s frontline fast bowler in their maiden Test against India. Sherzad has played three T20Is so far.
Munir carries a healthy average in both List A (48.42) and first-class cricket (49.86). He has been added as a back-up keeper of Mohammad Shahzad.
Seamer Dawlat Zadran has been omitted from the squad. There was no place for left-arm pacer Shapoor Zadran as well.
Afghanistan have recently finished a fresh tour in Ireland. They won the T20Is 2-0 and ODI series 2-1.
