Akhtar names Pakistani batsman who can be better than Babar Azam
Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar had recently named a Pakistan cricketer, who he reckons he can go on to become a better batsman than Babar Azam for Pakistan in the near future. Akhtar showered his praise on Pakistan batsman Haider Ali after his stellar show in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020 for Peshawar Zalmi.
Haider Ali has been in scintillating form and has displayed great hitting skills with the bat in the league this season. In a recent video on his YouTube channel, Akhtar said Haider Ali is a rising star and is on par with Babar Azam.
The Rawalpindi Express further added that Haider Ali might become a better batsman than Babar Azam in the future. The 19-year-old Ali, who has played only seven first-class games is yet to make his international debut for the Pakistan national cricket team.
“Don’t forget that Haider Ali is also coming at par with Babar Azam. Haider Ali is from Rawalpindi and people from Rawalpindi are not normal but extraordinary. You will get to know that Haider Ali is at par with Babar Azam or maybe even better than him, but that is something time will tell you,” said Akhtar.
Though it is unfair to compare him with Babar Azam at such an early stage, Haider Ali has been sensational for Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League 2020.
He has by far scored as many as 239 runs in nine innings for Peshawar Zalmi in the league at a staggering strike rate of 158.28 while averaging close to 30. Babar is the leading run-scorer in the PSL this season with 313 runs in eight innings while playing for Karachi Kings.
