Archer, Dawson set to be included in England’s World Cup squad
England ‘s left-arm spinner Liam Dawson and all-rounder Jofra Archer are likely to be included in the World Cup squad.
With teams allowed to make changes in the World Cup squad till May 23, a lot is happening at the moment and Pakistan was the first side to make the move on Monday. They have included Mohammad Amir, Asif Ali and Wahab Riaz while Junaid Khan, Faheem Ashraf and Abid Ali were excluded from the squad.
The hosts England are set to make their move now and according to reports, Liam Dawson and Jofra Archer are set to be included while Joe Denly and David Willey will be left out.
Dawson has last played for England in ODIs back in 2018 but is still rated as the third-best one-day spinner in the country. He will replace Joe Denly, who failed to make an impact in the recently concluded Pakistan series.
Meanwhile, Archer has impressed everyone so far and the cricket world is desperately waiting to see him in the World Cup squad. James Vince will also be included as the replacement of Alex Hales, who has been withdrawn from the squad due to using recreational drugs.
Vince was drafted into the setup for the Pakistan series once news of Hales’ second failed drugs test had been made public. He batted twice for 76, with a top score of 43 and it might be enough to convince the selections to include him in the squad. England will announce the squad officially on May 21.
