Ashwin predicts CWC19 finalists

Although all the other teams have already played their first game in the mega event, India is yet to take part in the ongoing tournament. Meanwhile, Indian Test spinner Ravi Ashwin has predicted the finalists for this year’s ICC Cricket World Cup.

“Looking at them from a long shot, the balance India has got in terms of pace, spin and the batting prowess, I think India are the favorites. Looking at the other teams, I think India and England will play in the final. That is my prediction,” he was quoted as saying in Times Now.

Ashwin who was part of India’s 2011 World Cup winning team also explained why he picked India as one of the favorites. He added, India are the favorites because look at the batting that we have. Top three we have Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, and Virat Kohli. Rohit and Virat are two of the best batsmen in the world.”

He concluded, “The way Virat paces his innings and the kind of firepower that Rohit has, he is one of those batsmen who can change gears any time. Apart from that, we have a balanced setup.”
