Australia level series, set for decider vs NZ
Coming from 0-2, Australia have taken the five-match series to 2-2 against New Zealand after a 50-run win in a low-scoring fourth T20I at Westpac Stadium, Wellington.
Aaron Finch played a captain’s knock, where he smashed Kyle Jamieson for four sixes in the last over of Australia’s innings after electing to bat first. Finch carried the bat making 79* runs off 55 balls with 5 fours and those four sixes.
No one else had a good time at the crease for the Aussies. Glenn Maxwell hit 18 off 9 runs to get the scoring rate up.
Left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner bowled an economical spell of 1/16 in four overs to give the hosts the egde until Jamieson got smacked for 26 in the final over.
Australia managed to put 156/6 on board. Ish Sodhi was the pick of the bowlers wirh 3/32, while Trent Boult took 2 for 27.
New Zealand had a slow start in pursuit to win series, but cluster of wickets pulled them back. No.9 Jamieson was the top-scorer in an attempt to avenge his bowling performance with 18-ball 30.
That was not enough for the Kiwis as they were bowled out for 106 with seven balls to go.
Kane Richardson bagged 3 for 19 in 2.5 overs. Spinners Maxwell, Ashton Agar and Adam Zampa claimed two wickets each.
The series-deciding fifth and final T20I is set for March 7 on the same ground.
