Australia will be favorites against India, says Steve Waugh
Former World Cup winning captain Steve Waugh believes that Australia will be favorites against India in a four-match Test series starting December 2020. He says that this time David Warner, Steve Smith and the pacers will make the difference in the Test series.
“Australia will be the favorite I think. We realize the pitches well and day night Test is going to be something generally new for India. I like the way Virat Kohli is taking that challenge. If you need be the best side in the world, you need to win away from home however much as could reasonably be expected,” the 54-year-old said.
“You can’t detract from India winning last time however Australia didn’t have the best batsmen. Marnus Labuschagne has appeared unexpectedly, the bowling looks a lot of settled at this point. India don’t have shortcomings as well, so it’s possibly to be an extraordinary series,”
The greatest captain in the Test history of cricket, Steve Waugh also said that Tim Paine had been doing a great job in captaincy and it’s not the right time to make change in captaincy.
“Why we have to change the leadership, Tim Paine is working superbly. We have to give him more regard. He has come in at an extreme time. He is a captain for future, he is in his mid-30s however that doesn’t mean he can’t captain for a couple of years. Posing this inquiry implies we are not offering appreciation to the present captain,” Waugh said.
