Bangla Tigers end the Super League stage with lose in Abu Dhabi T10
Bangla Tigers have confirmed the semifinals with one Super League match remaining. If the last match was won, the Bangla Tigers could go to the last four as the number one team. But that didn’t happen on Friday, November 22 against Maratha Arabians.
After losing the last match of the Super League, Tigers are now ranked number four on the point table. Bangla Tigers lost by 7 wickets to Maratha Arabians in a match at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi yesterday. This is the second defeat of the Bangla Tigers in the tournament. Yesterday, none of the Bangla Tigers’ batsmen and bowlers were able to give their best. That’s why Tigers had to finish the Super League stage with a negative result.
Bangla Tigers could not get off to a good start to win the toss. In-form Rilee Rossouw was dismissed before opening the scoring. Colin Ingram and captain Thisara Perera had failed once more. However, Tom Moores tried to pull the team. But the rest couldn’t support him.
As a result, Bangla Tigers could not able to score more than 106 runs in stipulated 10 overs. Moores scored 43 runs off 26 balls for Bangla Tigers. In his innings, there were six fours. Besides, only two batsmen managed to get to the two-digit score. They are- Andre Fletcher (13) and Robbie Frylinck (18). Kasun Rajitha and captain Dwayne Bravo took two wickets each for Maratha Arabians.
Chasing a target of 107 runs, Adam Lyth and Chris Lynn got off to a good start. Lynn, who had batted destructively in the previous two games, also hinted to play same kind of innings in this match. But couldn’t. He returned for 23 runs off just 9 balls. Chadwick Walton could not make the advantage too. He was dismissed for 8 runs. Another opener, Lyth, scored 14 off 13 balls. But Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh and Afghan batsman Najibullah Zadran managed the situation of Maratha Arabians very well after the team was at 48/3.
The two batsmen ensured the team’s win by 7 wickets with nine balls left. Yuvraj Singh was unbeaten on 23 off 12 balls with a four and two sixes. Najibullah Zadran was unbeaten on 36 for 15 balls with 4 fours and two sixes. Najibullah Zadran was adjusted man of the match.
Bangla Tigers will face Deccan Gladiators in the Eliminator Round match today on November 23. Bangla Tigers started the tournament with a loss against Gladiators. So it’s a chance of taking revenge for the Tigers.
If they win this match, they will have to play one more match to confirm the final. And in that match, Tigers will face the losing team in the match between Maratha Arabians and Qalandars. But if they loss, they will be out of the tournament.
