This will be Shakib Al Hasan’s first assignment in whites since he was reappointed as Test captain last December.
Top-order batsman Nazmul Hossain Shanto, wicket-keeper batsman Nurul Hasan Sohan, and pacers Kamrul Islam Rabbi and Shafiul Islam have been recalled into the squad. Seamer Abu Jayed Rahi gets a maiden Test call-up. Mustafizur Rahman has been named as stand-by.
Shanto made his Test debut against New Zealand in Hamilton last year. He captained Bangladesh A against Ireland A at home later that year. Rabbi, Shafiul and Sohan are back in the squad after one year.
Bangladesh players will start their practice after Eid-ul-Fitr. The new head coach Steve Rhodes will join the team on June 20. Test captain Shakib Al Hasan left Dhaka to celebrate Eid in USA. He will join the squad from the United States.
Bangladesh’s tour of Windies will begin on 27th June with a two-day warm-up game at Stanford Cricket Ground, Coolidge, Antigua. The first Test will be from July 4 at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua. The Tigers will play their first international match in Jamaica in 14 years. The second Test will be from July 12 at Sabina Park, Kingston.
The visitors will also play three ODIs and three T20Is in the tour. The last two T20Is will be played in Florida.
Bangladesh last toured Windies in 2014. They lost all of two Test matches and three ODIs in that series. The one-off T20I was washed out.
