Bangladesh better than us : Sri Lanka coach

Jerome Jayaratne, the interim coach of Sri Lanka, has slammed the fielding standard of the team, describing it “the worst in Asia”. According to him, India and Bangladesh are way better than the Islanders, as far as fielding is concerned. Jayaratne also felt they have even gone down of Pakistan in recent time. Jayaratne further insisted themselves to be even worse than the Pakistan fielder, “We were never behind Pakistan, but now we have even gone behind them. We now are the worst fielding side of Asia.”
Jayaratne, who was appointed earlier this month as the replacement of Marvan Atapattu after the latter’s sudden resignation in the wake of their 2-1 home series defeat against India, also believed it was only their bowling department that was holding the entire team together otherwise they had been worsened in all other sides of the game.
“Other than the department of bowling which is holding the team together, the batting, fielding and fitness – all has miserably let us down,” said the Lankan interim coach.
He also conceded there was a lot to do with the fitness levels as the way Lankan cricketers were fielding of late, as if they were carrying excess weight and were in shambles.
