Bangladesh to announce squad on 15th July

Bangladesh will announce the squad on 15th July for the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka at their den.

After playing constant cricket for two months, Bangladesh returned home on 7th July. However, they won’t be getting any long break as they are set to travel to Sri Lanka on 20th July to play three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka.

Some of the key players are likely to miss the series. All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has already requested to rest him for the series as he is feeling mentally exhausted and might go to perform Hajj during that period.

Meanwhile, Liton Das will miss the series as he is set to tie the knot on 28th July while Mahmudullah, who is suffering from an injury is also in doubt for the series.

Not only the players, but the members of the coaching staff also won’t be available as well. Batting coach Neil McKenzie will not be available due to personal reasons. Bangladesh have already sacked head coach Steve Rhodes and didn’t renew contracts of Courtney Walsh, Sunil Joshi and the physio.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) informed on Monday that they will announce the squad on 15th July and will sit for a meeting between 20-22 July to discuss whom to appoint as the new head coach.

Bangladesh will play the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka on 26, 28 and 31st July respectively.
