Bangladesh women's team start qualifier with 14-run win

After winning the toss and batting in Abu Dhabi, Bangladesh scored 143 runs after losing 4 wickets in the 20 overs. Captain Nigar Sultana scored a brilliant half-century for the team. She scored 67 runs off 53 balls with 10 fours and a six.

Bangladesh women’s team have got off to a good start by defeating Ireland women’s team in their first match of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier. Bangladesh won by 14 runs with a great performance in bat and ball.
After winning the toss and batting in Abu Dhabi, Bangladesh scored 143 runs after losing 4 wickets in the 20 overs. Captain Nigar Sultana scored a brilliant half-century for the team. She scored 67 runs off 53 balls with 10 fours and a six.
Besides, opener Shamima Sultana scored 48 runs off 40 balls. Murshida Khatun scored 16 runs off 16 balls. Shamima and Nigar made an outstanding partnership of 62 runs for the second wicket to give the team a nice fighting score.
Chasing the target, the Irish lost 2 wickets within 5 runs. Then captain Amy Hunter, Laura Delany, and Eimear Richardson tried to tackle the initial blow and played very well in the middle. But after the dismissal of Amy and Laura, Ireland lost wickets at regular intervals. Eimear tried from one end but without proper support, she was unable to grab the win for her team.
In the end, Ireland were bundled out for 129 runs in 19.4 overs. Amy scored 33 runs from 32 balls, Laura scored 28 off 30 balls and Eimear scored 40 runs from 26 balls. For Bangladesh, Salma Khatun took three wickets while Sanjida Akter Meghla and Nahida Akter picked up two wickets each.
Bangladesh will play their second match against Scotland on September 19.
