It was a bit surprising that pacer Abu Hider, who was the highest wicket- taker in the recently concluded Dhaka Premier League in unfriendly conditions for seamers, didn’t get a place in the long list.

But Habibul Bashar Sumon, who is one of the three men of the selection committee has explained the reason why the rocky fast bowler could not get a place in the preliminary squad, despite performing very well in the domestic cricket.

“Rony [Abu Hider] did really well in the league but the problem was that we could not accommodate him in the preliminary squad but gave him a place in the High Performance team for the Australia tour,” said Bashar.

However, in the meantime, the former Bangladesh captain said that they would keep their eyes on the players who are going to Australia as part of the High Performance squad, in the first date of July.

Bashar Concluded, “We will definitely keep our eyes on this High Performance trip and I think it will be a great opportunity for players like Anamul and Rony to grab the spotlight.”
