Australia thrashed Pakistan by 9 wickets in the second match of the ongoing tri-nation series underway in Zimbabwe on Monday. The defeat of Pakistan has broken their eight-match winning streak in the shortest format of the game.
Having been asked to bat first, the Green Shirts had a poor start as they lost five crucial wickets within first 10 overs of the match. Pakistan however after losing five wickets, Hasan Ali counter-attacked and launched a length delivery from medium pacer Marcus Stoinis clean out of the ground for six. But he could not stay in the middle for long as Stoinis soon had his revenge, bowling Ali for 22 as Pakistan slipped to 61 for 6. Afterward, Pakistan kept losing wickets on a regular interval and finally folded out to 116 with one ball to spare.
Chasing a small a target of 119 in 20 overs, Australia lost their first wicket on 35 after a firing start by skipper Aaron Finch who lastly remained unbeaten with a quick-fire fifty to seal the deal with 55 balls to spare. He smashed six sixes and four boundaries during his 33-ball 68 runs knock.
Earlier, Hasan Ali managed to remove D’Arcy Short in his first over, but all of it accounted for nothing but his birthday present.
