BCB confirms 7 BPL franchises for next three seasons

After a detailed evaluation and assessment of the EOI documents submitted by prospective owners, the BPL (Bangladesh Premier League) T20 Governing Council has invited seven parties to complete the process of securing Franchise Ownership Rights for the next three (9th, 10th & 11th) editions of the tournament.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has finalized 7 franchises for the next 3 seasons of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). The BCB released the list of seven BPL franchises on Sunday (September 25).
After a detailed evaluation and assessment of the EOI documents submitted by prospective owners, the BPL (Bangladesh Premier League) T20 Governing Council has invited seven parties to complete the process of securing Franchise Ownership Rights for the next three (9th, 10th & 11th) editions of the tournament.
As per the published list, Fortune Barishal Sports Ltd. will represent Barishal this time as well. Mindtree Limited has been tentatively selected as the Khulna franchisee. Dhaka will be represented by Progoti Green Auto Rice Mills Ltd.
Future Sports Bangladesh Limited has got the responsibility as a franchisee of Sylhet. Bashundhara Group's Toggi Sports Limited is returning to BPL with the Rangpur region. Besides, Delta Sports Ltd. is representing Chattogram and Comilla Legends Limited is representing Cumilla.
The selected 7 franchises will contract with the board for the next 3 seasons of BPL. According to BCB's pre-determined schedule, the ninth season of BPL will start on January 5, 2023, and end on February 16. The tenth season will begin on January 6, 2024, and will end on February 17. The eleventh season will start on January 1, 2025, and end on February 11. All three matches will be held in Dhaka, Chattogram, and Sylhet.
Each franchise has to pay Tk8.5 crore for the security of the cricketers' remuneration. Another one and a half crore will be charged for the franchise fee. All in all, Tk10 crore should be paid before the formation of the team or the party preparation before the start of the season.
The board published the tender on August 2 asking for applications from franchisees interested in BPL. It was clearly stated in the specific guidelines that the franchisees have to guarantee Tk8.5 crore before the start of the tournament. Franchisees had an opportunity to apply to participate in the BPL until August 30, by which time a total of 10 franchises had expressed interest in participating in the BPL.
