The cricketers of the country have been complaining about the indoor facilities of Mirpur for practice for a long time. Now the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is going to fulfill the cricketers’ requirements.
BCB has approved the opening of a world-class indoor facility. Where there will be natural turf and the most attractive indoor roof section can be opened or closed at will. As a result, sunlight will be able to enter inside if needed and rain will also be avoided.
President Nazmul Hassan Papon spoke about the new indoor facilities after the meeting at the BCB office in Mirpur on August 4 (Thursday). He said, “We were working on it (indoors) for a long time. Today BCB has decided to introduce reparable indoor practice facilities with natural turf. They can practice on the same wicket they play on the field. It is quite popular now. It is being appreciated all over the world. We have approved it today."
Papon also said that the practice facility for the Tigers will be built on the model of the indoor facility at Mt Manganui in New Zealand. He added, “This facility is similar to the facilities they have in Mount Maunganui, New Zealand. The top can be opened, then sunlight will be available. Again since we have rain here, again it can be turned off. It can always be used throughout the year.”
