BCCI wants to host Test Championship in complete new schedule
India’s position at the top of the point table of ICC World Test Championship is quite integrated. They are far ahead on the way to the final. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has proposed postponing the ICC Test Championship due to a coronavirus situation. No other country has yet agreed to it, according to cricket website ESPNcricinfo.
No major decision was made at Thursday’s meeting of the ICC chief executives. The only discussion was about the current situation and possible path. The T20 World Cup in Australia in October-November and the Women’s ODI World Cup in New Zealand in February-March are currently in mind of ICC as per schedule.
In case of coronavirus, the ICC will meet once a month in a conference call. The T20 World Cup topic will be discussed in every meeting. However, the final decision is yet to be made at next month’s meeting. The ICC will wait until at least the last week of June.
The main reason for India’s proposal to postpone the Test Championship, they said, was to reschedule the series, which had been postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. However, the future of the Test Championship and ODI Super League is fully dependent on the decision of ICC. The 10 teams of the 2023 World Cup are supposed to be finalized with the ODI Super League.
