BCL opens door for Nasir, Al-Amin and a few others ahead of India Test

The likes of Nasir Hossain, Al-Amin Hossain are out of the national set-up for quite some time. They will play in the first round of the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) longer version.

According to the selectors, this will be a platform for them to showcase their talent and stake claim for a place back in the national squad ahead of the lone Test against India in Hyderabad, beginning from February 9.

“Definitely we will consider their performance in BCL ahead of the India series. If they are clever they will make the most of this opportunity. Some don’t get the chance to play long enough in some of the other tournaments they play, so it’s a big chance for them to prove their mettle,” said Bangladesh national team selector Habibul Bashar Sumon on Thursday.

While most of the national players will be unavailable after returning from their grueling tour of New Zealand, BCL is expected to open window for some other fringe cricketers like Mossadek Hossain, Tanvir Hyder and Shafiul Islam.

With the franchise-based first-class tournament scheduled from January 28, defending champions Walton Central Zone will take on Islamic Bank East Zone at Bogra while Prime Bank South Zone will begin their campaign against BCB North Zone at Sylhet in the opening round.
