Ben Stokes to miss rest of Pakistan Test series
England won the first Test match by 3 wickets against Pakistan and took the first lead in the three-match Test series. They are just a win away from sealing the series. Meanwhile, the entire England cricket team received bad news as star all-rounder Ben Stokes will miss the rest of the Test series.
It should be noted that Ben Stokes was England’s vice-captain in the first Test vs Pakistan at Old Trafford on Saturday. It will be quite a task for England to manage themselves for the remainder of the Test series against Pakistan. The second and third Test will commence at the Ageas Bowl starting on Thursday 13 August and Friday 21 August respectively.
According to an official statement given by ECB, Ben Stokes will soon leave the UK later this week and travel to New Zealand for family reasons.
“Stokes will leave the UK later this week and travel to New Zealand,” said an ECB statement. “He will miss England’s two Test matches against Pakistan at the Ageas Bowl (starting) on Thursday 13 August and Friday 21 August.”
Stokes’s parents namely Ged and Deb still live in New Zealand where he was born. Stokes will be jetting off to New Zealand to meet his family. Stokes featured in all four Tests so far this summer, skippering his team for the first Test in Joe Root’s absence in the series opener against the West Indies.
