Bhanuka Rajapaksa has advised the board to withdraw the retirement he had offered to the Sri Lankan cricket board.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) confirmed Thursday that left-handed batsman Bhanuka Rajapaksa notified the board to withdraw the resignation he had given to the SLC. Bhanuka announced his resignation on January 3, 2022 with short effect.
“After a meeting with the Minister of Youth and Sports, Namal Rajapakse, and in consultation with the national voters, Bhanuka Rajapaksa informed the SLC that he would like to withdraw his resignation, which he submitted to the SLC with immediate effect on January 3rd, 2022.
"In his letter to SLC withdrawing his retirement he goes on to state that he wishes to represent his country in the game he loves in the years to come," the statement added.
Rajapaksa has played 5 ODIs and 18 T20Is for Sri Lanka so far.
In ODIs he has got 89 runs with his highest score being 65.
In the shortest format, he has got 320 runs, with his highest being a knock of 77.
Yesterday, however, a special discussion took place in Temple Trees (12) between Minister of Sport Namal Rajapaksa and Bhanuka Rajapaksa.
