Bhopal police seize massive unaccounted money relating to IPL betting
Bhopal police on Saturday seized over Rs 1 crore raiding different spots while operating against betting during the ongoing Indian Premier League.
Police said that the operations were conducted at seven places from which massive amount of money accounted to around Rs 56 lakhs and Rs 29 lakhs were recovered from two places respectively.
Indian media reports said, Rs 29 lakh was seized from Bharat Soni who owns Bharat tent house at Habibganj while Rs 56 lakh was seized from the house of Naresh Hematani at Mahabali Nagar in Kolar.
After the cash was seized Hematani was asked to produce the details of the money which was recovered from his house but he failed to show proper documents. Police started investigation and informed income tax officials.
Third in the row was Sanjeet Chawla was arrested for possessing Rs 11 lakh at his shop at bus stand. Police have also seized Rs 6 lakh around were seized from other spots at Idgah hills and Ashoka garden areas from the houses of Jaiprakash Meghani and Chetan Wadhwani.
Besides that, Rs 2.3 lakh was also seized from Chunabhatti from the Western Plaza. Police arrested a man named Manoharlal Talreza from there for possessing the amount as he also failed to show the supporting documents.
According to the Bhopal police, the betting racket in the city is estimated to be worth Rs 500 crore. As per reports, thousands are involved in IPL betting in there and more such raids are likely to be conducted in the future.
