After a long time, opener Anamul Haque Bijoy has got chance in the national team again. He has already been called up for the ODI and T20 squads for the Caribbean tour. But another good news came just before the Test series began, he’d also been added to the Test squad.
Bijoy, who got a place in the Test team due to the injury of Yasir Ali, was not with the team before the first match. The Antigua Test ended on the fourth day, the same day Bijoy arrived in West Indies and joined the team.
The opener is being considered for the XI as he joined the team before the second Test. At the same time, he expressed his desire to play in the second Test.
Bijoy said, “I joined the team yesterday. It feels good to be associated with the Test team after so many days. There are four or five more days ahead for the second Test. I will try to practice well and play the second match. If the opportunity arises, I will definitely try to play well. Since I arrived after many days, I feel very good.”
Bijoy has scored 73 runs in 4 Tests for Bangladesh. He played his last for Bangladesh almost 8 years in September 2014. He last played in a national team jersey in 2019 in the ODI against Sri Lanka. The second and final Test of the two-match series between the host West Indies and visiting Bangladesh will start in St. Lucia on the 24th.
