BPL 2019-20: Shane Watson to join Rangpur Rangers


Rangpur Rangers lost all four matches in the ongoing Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BBPL) 2019. That’s why Australia’s one of the finest all-rounder Shane Watson has been blown away by the squad to change the fortune of the team.

BPL 2019-20: Shane Watson to join Rangpur Rangers

Md Enayet Husain Siraj, director of the Rangpur Rangers, confirmed this. He said Shane Watson had been scheduled to arrive on December 26. Apart from Dhaka stage, he said Watson would play in all the remaining matches of Rangpur.

England’s Dan Lawrence, Tom Abell, Lewis Gregory and Luke Wright were swept in the Rangpur squad for the overseas quota. In addition, South Africa’s Cameron Delport had joined as an overseas player recently. Pakistan all-rounder Khurram Manzoor had not joined the squad yet.

Afghan star Mohammad Nabi had been seen to lead the team. Another Afghan star Mohammed Shahzad played in the jersey of Rangpur. Rangpur team had yet to receive West Indies wicket-keeper Shai Hope’s service. Pakistan pacer Junaid Khan played a match but could not able to get the team back on track.

If Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Arafat Sunny, Mohammad Naim had got Shane Watson early, maybe they would find the strength to fight back earlier.

Australian star Watson had not played in any other match since last month’s T-10 League game in Abu Dhabi. Watson has played 190 ODIs and 59 Tests for Australia. And he played 58 T20Is for his national side where he scored 1462 runs with the strike rate of 145.32. He picked-up 10 half-centuries alongside a century.

Watson played total of 316 T20 matches in his career. The experienced T20 master scored 8,182 runs in these matches. Where his strike rate was 138.74. He has six centuries in T20s alongside 48 half-centuries.
