CA central contract list: Smith, Warner, Pattinson in, Mitchell Marsh axed
On the hind of ending the year-long ban, David Warner and Steven Smith have all the good news on earth in their hand.
Both the former captain and vice-captain are selected in the World Cup squad and they also been included in the renewed contract list of Cricket Australia for the 2019/20 season.
As of the curveball, former Test Vice-captain Mitchell Marsh is axed from the list; he is one of the six cricketers who have been cut out with Ashton Agar, Matthew Renshaw, Kane Richardson, Billy Stanlake and Andrew Tye.
Besides inclusion of Smith and Warner, one of the most talking points of the contract list is having Victorian quick James Pattinson back in the scenario ending his long battle with gruesome back surgery.
National selector Trevor Hohns said,
“We believe the 2019/20 contract list provides us with a versatile group of players who can represent Australia across all three formats over the contract period.”
“Our key criteria focused on selecting a pool of players who are going to help us in our ambition to win the upcoming World Cup and Ashes Series in England, and who can also play the various formats over the course of the Australian summer,” he added.
