Former South African pacer Charl Langeveldt who took over the responsibility of Bangladesh pace department from Courtney Walsh, has emphasized upon the fitness level of pacers.

Langeveldt joined with the team training session from 22nd of August upon his arrival on the previous day.

Bangladesh paceman Shafiul Islam, on Monday, has talked about the working procedure of the newly appointed coach and how he is dealing with the pace battery.

Shafiul said, “Gripping is the main factor in pace bowling. Langeveldt showed us how to grip an old ball properly for reverse swing.

“Learning has no end; and everyone have his own method of teaching things. Particular bowlers grip the ball in particular ways. Coach is showing us how to make better grip with a good position.”

Shafiul further revealed that Langeveldt has made it clear that fitness is the main term of success for a fast bowler.

“Coach has emphasized on better level of physical fitness. It is important to maintain the pace and rhythm till the end of the day in Test match.

“There are numerous scopes to increase fitness. Langeveldt suggested to elevate the level of fitness from any position,” he added.
