‘Covid has no favourites’ – Steyn wishes speedy recovery to infected cricketers

The second wave of the coronavirus pandemic has caused panic in India. Meanwhile, as many as 4 players tested positive for the coronavirus. They are none other than Varun Chakravarthy (KKR), Sandeep Warrier (KKR), Amit Mishra (DC) and Wriddhiman Saha (SRH).

With increasing coronavirus cases in the bio-bubble, the Indian Premier League governing council and the Board of Control for Cricket in India took a shocking decision to postpone the entire tournament.

Meanwhile, the BCCI is looking at the September window to conclude the competition. So far nearly half of the tournament ended. 29 of the 60 scheduled games were staged successfully. Now, the BCCI will need a small window i.e. just three weeks to finish the tourney.

Meanwhile, the experienced South African fast bowler Dale Steyn has extended his wishes to the cricketers who tested positive in their bio-bubble during the IPL 2021. The Proteas pacer took to Twitter and wished a speedy recovery for the infected players and a safe return for all the ones who were a part of IPL 2021.

“Covid don’t care. It has no favourites. Get well to those sick and hopefully, everyone else will get home safe and in good health,” Steyn tweeted.

“The Indian Premier League Governing Council (IPL GC) and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in an emergency meeting has unanimously decided to postpone IPL 2021 season, with immediate effect,” the statement read.

“The BCCI does not want to compromise on the safety of the players, support staff and the other participants involved in organising the IPL. This decision was taken keeping the safety, health and well-being of all the stakeholders in mind,” it added.
