Cricket still Mashrafe’s first priority: Papon
Concerns raised over Mashrafe Bin Mortaza’s participation in Windies series at home but according to BCB boss Nazmul Hassan Papon, Mashrafe will play throughout the ODI series.
ODI cricket is the only format Mashrafe plays for Bangladesh. Windies team is currently in Bangladesh for a full-series that starts on Thursday (November 22) with the first Test in Chattogram. The ODIs are scheduled on November 9, 11 (Dhaka) and 14 in Sylhet.
The Narail Express could become Bangladesh’s first active cricketer to be a Member of Parliament as he will be contesting from Narail-2 in the upcoming general election on December 30. He has already collected nomination form.
“As far as I know he will play if there’s a match. I have talked to him about it. Cricket is still his first priority and the same goes for us as well,” said Papon.
However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board and ACC (Asian Cricket Council) president has warned that there would not be any guarantee. This means there is still a possibility of him missing a game.
“There’s no surity of what’s going to happen. He himself told that he could miss at least one match at that time. But we deeply believe that he will play all the games. This is just our wish and faith. Let’s see what happens next,” Papon added.
