CWC 2019: Angry Akhtar hits out at Sarfaraz Ahmed
Everything went right for Virat Kohli and everything went quite the opposite for Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed. The latter was running short of ideas while taking on the arch-rivals India and he came under fire for his poor captaincy. Besides Pakistan fans slamming their skipper, Shoaib Akhtar joined the bandwagon to hurl some harsh words at Sarfaraz Ahmed.
Rawalpindi express who played under Inzamam-ul-Haq’s captaincy in his era wasn’t really pleased with Sarfaraz Ahmed’s captaincy. He vent out his frustration by calling Sarfaraz Ahmed’s captaincy as ‘brainless’ and then tagged the whole brigade as ‘clueless management’ for their hefty loss at the hands of India in Manchester on Sunday.
Despite guessing the right side of the coin and opting to field first, Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed couldn’t make an impact straight away with the bowlers.
Akhtar launched a scathing attack at Sarfaraz for his decision to bowl first after winning the toss. He added that he committed the same mistake that Virat Kohli committed after winning the toss in the Champions Trophy Final two years ago.
Though the bowlers tried to be as perfect as they can be, they couldn’t trouble the Indian openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul who put on a constructive 136-run stand for the first wicket. Rohit’s 140 was so special that set the tone for Virat Kohli to help the team set a target of 337.
Pakistan, in reply, scored 166/6 in 35 overs before rain caused a temporary stoppage to the proceedings. The match continued with a revised target was 302 and they had to chase it down in 40 overs. They managed to reach just 212/6 falling short of deliveries as they were handed their third defeat of the tournament.
In an 11-minute clip posted on his YouTube channel, Akhtar slammed the team’s captain Sarfaraz in his post-match review.
Sarfaraz Ahmed is brainless: Shoaib Akhtar
“I can’t understand how brainless can a captain be. How did Sarfaraz not realize that this team cannot chase?” Akhtar asked. He said that Sarfaraz committed the same mistake that Virat Kohli did after winning the toss in the Champions Trophy Final.

Akhtar also criticized Pakistan bowlers for not bowling with a plan and being inaccurate in their line and length. Speaking of Hasan Ali, Akhtar criticized him for not bowling with enough pace and on the right area. He also added that he was excessively short that damaged his line and length.
Talking about Mohammad Amir, Akhtar added that despite taking three wickets, the pacer was easily outsmarted by Indian batsmen.
With just 4 games to go, Pakistan would be in big trouble should they lose one more match from now on as the loss would knock them out of the tournament.
