David Warner to lead Sylhet Sixers in BPL 2019
Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) franchise Sylhet Sixers authority intents to make a change in captaincy for the sixth edition of the competition.
National team all-rounder Nasir Hossain led Sylhet Sixers last season whereby the franchise authority have unanimously came into the decision of altering the position this year. It has been reported that tainted former Australian Vice-Captain David Warner is going to replace Nasir Hossain in the coming occasion.
The declaration emerged after much pondering over from the franchise authority although David Warner’s recruitment in the team was confirmed early in October this year.
Sylhet Sixers’ Chief Executive Officer Yasir Obaed said as quoted by Prothom Alo, “This year it would going to be a highly competitive season. We want to fully employ the experience and ability of a skilled performer like Warner. Hope the team will be benefitted.”
Sylhet Sixers will start their BPL mission on 6th of January with the match against Comilla Victorians.
“Warner has the experience of playing in mega franchise Twenty20 leagues around the globe. Sunrisers Hyderabad won the Indian Premier League title in 2016 under Warner’s captaincy which is a definitive reason behind selecting him as the captain of Sylhet Sixers,” he said further.
